About the 'Test of Faith' project

Youth for Christ logoThe Test of FAITH youth resources were written and developed in 2009 by Richard James in partnership with a team of church and community youthworkers from Youth for Christ's Kingston centre, otherwise known as Oxygen. As one of 60 Youth for Christ projects across the country, Oxygen's vision is to give young people the opportunity to discover and follow Jesus.

Richard James was Director of Oxygen, Kingston YFC until 2010. Before coming to Oxygen, Richard previously worked as a Company Director, Church youthworker, and youth café manager. Having completed an MA in Youth Ministry and theological education at Kings College London he has written and spoken on youth ministry and mission across the UK. He is now Chief Executive at YMCA London South West.

The Test of Faith youth materials were developed to help groups of Christian young people explore issues relating to science and faith. As such activities have been provided that enable Bible study, discussion and prayer. Whilst the groups are aimed at Christian young people they can be adapted to raise awareness of the issues and encourage open discussion among young people of many beliefs and none. Each youth worker leading the sessions should make their own decision about how to approach these activities with their groups, depending on the young people's level of interest in, or commitment to, Christian faith, and adapt the session as appropriate.
