Prof. Bill Newsome

Professor Bill Newsome is a Neurobiologist at Stanford University School of Medicine. His research is on visual perception – the way that the brain processes messages from the eyes. He grew up in north Florida and studied Physics at Stetson University. He went on to complete a PhD at the California Institute of Technology, where he began his work on visual perception.

Bill speaks regularly on the relationship between science and faith and on the impact of neuroscience on our understanding of the mind. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and is the faculty sponsor of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship graduate student group at Stanford. In his spare time he enjoys birding, landscape photography and reading history.
