‘The book before you will lift your eyes to the skies, expand your mind, and refill your spirit with a new sense of the grandeur and awesome character of God.’ Jennifer Wiseman, Astronomer

The heavens are telling the glory of God. All we have to do is look up. In this book Louis Giglio and Matt Redman share their fascination with the universe, their obsession with facts and figures about vast distances and massive stars, and the way in which finding out about the universe expands their view of God.

In fifteen short chapters, six by Giglio and seven by Redman, we explore the universe in a number of ways. An experience of a meteorite shower or the moon landing, the properties of stars or the sun, the size of the Milky Way and the scale of the entire universe are used to communicate the feeling of awe and wonder that the authors get from astronomy. Each chapter draws out a spiritual lesson using personal stories and extracts from Bible in a relatively un-cheesy way. Although I found the ending of Giglio’s ‘Indescribable’ and ‘How Great is our God’ DVDs potentially misleading or contrived, there is nothing of that here – I found this book helpful.

Indescribable is an easy read, and would delight anyone with an imagination for reality. The colour version is spectacular and would make a great gift. And the astronomy must be accurate, because an astronaut and an astronomer have provided forewords for it!
