Revd Prof. Alister McGrath
Professor Alister McGrath is currently Professor of Theology, Ministry and Education and Head of the Centre for Theology, Religion and Culture at King’s College, London. He originally studied chemistry at Oxford University, followed by research in molecular biophysics at Oxford while studying for a theology degree at the same time. After further study at Cambridge, he was ordained into the Anglican Church. He spent several years in parish ministry before heading back to Oxford as a tutor at Wycliffe Hall, eventually becoming Professor of Historical Theology at Oxford University.
Much of Alister’s research, writing and speaking has been on science and theology, and he has responded vigorously to Richard Dawkins’ book The God Delusion, both in print and in debate. He is married to Joanna Collicutt-McGrath, and they have two children. When not writing, he enjoys reading detective novels and hill walking.
